WHY OCTOBER 3?
October 3 heralds the start of National Fire Prevention and Safety Week as observed from through October 10, 2009. Eagle Fire Station kicks into full-gear with a family- and community-minded informative educational program on Thursday, October 8. A tremendous crowd of parents and children (our parking lot overflows) gathers at the Eagle Fire Station to learn Fire Safety and Fire Prevention techniques. Everyone, especially the kids, is treated to presentations on Stop, Drop, and Roll, EDITH (Exit Drills in the Home), home hazard recognition, proper use of 911, and emergency and smoke alarms. A grand time is enjoyed exploring the Fire Trucks, checking out the Fire Station, and seeing the gear and breathing packs as worn by Firemen. ALL ARE INVITED TO THIS OPEN HOUSE. You need not run the Dash for the Axe 5K to enjoy this fun-filled and educational evening (but we suggest you do.)
